Apartheid, which is a word called, Apartness in English. The reason why it was implemented till this modern day, it was to cause separation within humanity because of certain belief systems that come from certain family or cultural backgrounds, to keep humanity oppressed by giving it racial, religious or language titles. This is the same kind of leadership being used today in many countries around the world on what we call “ Divide and Conquer”. Even though there is an abolishment of Apartheid by political law, it is still practised and followed regardless. Mind you, Apartheid is not just racial separation and definitely not a South African thing, but a whole lot of things such as racism e.g. events happening in the United States where melanated people are harassed and killed on a daily basis, religion in where people fight amongst themselves because they believe the deities they serve is good and others who do not follow the same way they are following are deemed as evil. This the kind of leadership that is being used in many African countries today
South Africa is one of the countries that have a unique history in regards to Apartheid. The revolution that had taken place by our Melanated Ancestors had inspired and touched the hearts of many people around the world, especially from other African Nations such as Nigeria, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe etc. that had influenced Africa to unite into one nation regardless of which African country they were from. Our ancestors went to exile in other African countries to be protected against the evil of this system. African nations collided with South Africa in terms of getting economic opportunities such as Mining, where the language called Sanofakaloku which is mixture of South African and other African languages, emerged to accommodate each other by avoiding language and cultural barrier.
Our Ancestors had ways to live and survive the system which was harsh and inhumane to them. They lived in very closed building spaces where they would sleep in one room regardless of the number of them in the building. They also had to dry food such as meat, vegetables and fruits to avoid being rotten so that they can consume after being put away for long period of time.
In the townships and villages, children grew up in situations where neighbours were also revered as their biological parents. It takes a village to raise a child, Umuntu Ngomuntu Ngabantu-I am because you are. These were two the African philosophies that had kept African people United and intact with each other. The history of Apartheid may seem as daunting to many young people of today, but it is a clear message that unity is important more than money and materialism.
Sadly, Humanity had put itself in the pockets of money, fame and ego while it caused a lot of separation amongst African households, families, friends and neighbours. South Africa right now is deemed as the zone of racism, tribalism and xenophobia to keep us separated from each other. And this practice unfortunately is done by the political authorities and the mainstream media. We have to follow the footsteps of unity. We have to expand the legacy that our grandparents and great-grandparents had left us. However to expand our consciousness, and heal our inner wounds through the pain we are experiencing and what our ancestors experienced because the history affects the present. The colonisation and slavery our ancestors went through still affect us as the modern generation, hence healing is important – Futuristic K Molapo
This is the right time to heal, my dear African child
Heal all that is bothering you in heart, soul and mind
Heal so that you do not have to transfer hate to the innocent while they know nothing
Heal so that you take accountability for your actions that had contributed to the pain we are experiencing in our mother land
Heal those wounds your mother gave you
Heal those traumas your father gave you
Do internal work so that you free your ancestral bloodline from oppression
because the time is now
You are the creator of your reality
the power is in your hands
Use your hands to inspire yourself and your surroundings
Because holding grudges will not grant you freedom but the true freedom is healing
